1961 Gibson J-45 "Sunburst"
This is a prime example of one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever produced. First available in 1942, J-45 quickly became the standard for Gibson's approach to Dreadnaught guitars. These models produced before 1968 retain the original rounded shoulder design and a slightly shorter scale length than the J-45s prodcued afterwards. The "Cherry Sunurst" finish was first introduced in late 1961 making this one of the earliest surviving examples of a '61 J-45 in this rare and eye-catching finish. This guitar is just about as good as it gets for Gibson acoustics of this era. It has been well maintaned and cared for over its life with replacement tuners and a small crack repair underneath the pickguard being the only things preventing it from being 100% original. It plays beautifully, sounds as good as any acoustic we've ever had in the shop, and even includes the original case!
